On Judgment Day

On the Day of Judgment

In the court of God

The witness bearing conscience

And the convicting law

Prosecute the sinner.

The verdict’s looking bleak

The sinner’s headed for eternal torment

Where there is fire and gnashing of teeth.

Law and Conscience:

He is a guilty violator

Of the just and holy law

He has not loved his creator

With all his mind, strength, soul, and heart

Of God’s works he was but a spectator

Sinner:

But God, God, I thought that you were a forgiver

A loving, kind old man

I thought that I was a believer

Forgive me if you can

Law and Conscience:

You sinner broke the second commandment

By making a God to suit yourself

Be ware, to Gods law there is no amendment

He is a just and holy Judge

You broke the third commandment too

Although you perfectly knew

Not to use God’s name in vain

And for this you’ll suffer pain

Sinner:

But using His name was only a habit of mine

I used it as a cussword only one time, or maybe two, or maybe nine.

Law and Conscience:

Oh sinner, you broke the fourth commandment too

For this we convict you!

You didn’t take one day in seven

To appreciate the God of heaven

You honored your parents not

They don’t matter is what you thought

You are a murderer at heart

Though you plead that in killing you had no part

You have lusted for a woman who did not belong to you

For this you must pay too

You’re an adulterer at heart

And in the lake of fire you’ll have your part

You stole money from your dad

You told lies so your wife wouldn’t get mad

You coveted after the latest fad

For the first time in your existence you are finally sad

For committing so much that is bad!

Conscience:

So many times I called out

I often raised my voice to a shout

But you froze me out, locked me out, blocked me out

Law:

Through the ages I changed not

Yes, in Sunday school to you I was taught

But though I was written upon your heart, salvation you never sought

God’s Verdict:

Depart you worker of iniquity from me

In heaven with me you shall never be

In hell your eternity lies

Where the worm never dies

Where in agony you’ll gnash your teeth

As the quenchless flames lick your fleshy meat

This is only just –

Pay for your sins you must.
